Oh yes, he’s back. I kinda gave up on TV reviews a little, mainly because I was unable to keep current with episodes as they aired, but The Walking Dead has always had an exception made in that field. Mostly this is because I am still an avid reader of the comic series and I regularly watch it every week with one of my friends who is not so aside from the show, I get a great joy out of watching her reactions to moments from the comic as they unfold and indeed getting caught out myself as the show “remixes” some key moments. It doesn’t hurt either that since Scott Gimple took over as showrunner on Season 4, the quality has been escalating consistently. That is, until, the last two or three episodes of Season 6. Or is it? It’s a really weird one being honest because in the 16 hours or so since I watched the finale my opinion on it has been bouncing back and forth and online I can mostly only see opinions coming in from fellow comic readers. So I’m deathly curious, show only watchers, what did you think of it? I make that statement now because I want to clarify, I may say some slightly mean things about the finale (as well as many SPOILERS too!) and I want it to be known that I’m mostly saying these things as someone who knows what’s coming next. Take that as you will but it is, in my opinion, an important factor to keep in mind. Let’s get started.

Better Call Saul S01E09 – “Pimento“
I hate it when the internet is right. As mentioned last week, there is a hypothesis bouncing around that BCS can’t possibly have too much in the line of happy moments for Jimmy seeing as he has to be forced into becoming Saul Goodman come the end of the series, so the leather bound books and rich mahogany desk are not likely to be coming his way anytime soon. That his downfall would come at the hands of his brother Chuck though, woah. By last week it seemed Continue reading The Goggle Box – Saul’s Not Good, Man
Prepare for some contradictions. Wolfenstein : The New Order is one of the best FPS titles I’ve played in a long time and a strong contender for best game of last year. However I cannot wait to be done with it. That’s right, it’s a near perfect FPS which is one of my favourite genres, yet I am at this stage just running my way to the end game.

Better Call Saul S01E07 – “Bingo”
It can’t be said that BCS has stuttered with this week’s seventh episode but it is more than accurate to say that this was the quiet beginnings of the path to Saul. Jimmy was so close, ready to move out of the salon and into a swanky office of his own, which he was hoping wouldn’t hurt his chances with Kim too of course. This is likely the last time we will see Jimmy get this close to real, legit success and it was handled in a surprisingly tragic manner. With Jimmy’s quiet moment in the final scene of the episode we saw a similar “lowest ebb” from him as we did from Mike last week. With both characters reaching their lowest, may we get nothing but climbs from now on? Climbs that find them both settle comfortably in the middle tier of course. Better Call Saul S01E06 – “Five-O”
Better Call Saul take a bow. This week we were taken on a journey through Mike’s back story preceeding his arrival in New Mexico and sure enough a Jonathan Banks feature episode did anything but disappoint.
Another week, another double bill of great TV. We really are spoiled for quality entertainment on the small screen the last decade, the lingering question is when, or if, it will all run out of steam. Whilst the risk of that has heightened with seemingly every television network now producing their own “contenders” to the juggernauts, we should be set for at least a few more years of top notch TV and this week in Better Call Saul and The Walking Dead served to reinforce that. Also, in case anyone is wondering, yes there will be a season review of House Of Cards coming up in the next few weeks but I’m trying to pace it out!
